Most wellness plans are designed for the 9-5 world, they weren’t designed for the nurses working 14hr shifts, or the manufacturing worker who is rotating between day/swing/night shifts, not even for our first responders who are putting their life on the line each and every day. ShiftHC is health coaching for our shift working professionals that is designed around their lifestyle.

No more debating if eating breakfast at 5pm is actually breakfast or dinner or trying to figure out how you are going to manage working out when you have been on your feet for the last 14 hours.

How it works

  1. Pick your package
    1. Plan A – Single 60 minute appointment walk away with a plan.
    2. Plan B – Package of 6 calls first one is 60 mins follow ups are 45 mins
      1. you schedule follow-ups as needed.
      2. follow-ups must be used within 1 yea
  2. Choose your appointment time
  3. Fill out the intake form (this allows the call to be more streamlined)
  4. Meet with Laura and design plan
  5. Put plan into place
  6. Schedule follow-ups with Laura as needed.

Plan A

  • 1 – 60 minute session.
  • Actionable plan to improve your health.
  • Ability to schedule additional session at a discounted charge.

Plan B

  • Package of 6 sessions

I get it. Here are some questions I am commonly asked.

Why focus on shift working professionals?
“Healthy doesn’t work for me”, that was the five words that changed my focus as a coach. I come from a family of farmers, skilled laborers, nurses and I can’t tell you how many times I would tell my family “that’s not going to work for you, this is what you need to do” I realized as a health and wellness industry our message was directed to the 9-5 corporate world and excluded everyone else.

Is this a 3 or 6 month program?
No, my clients are shift working professionals and most of them don’t know what their schedule will look like next week let alone 3 or 6 months in advance. Some clients just want direction and to go, others want ongoing support and accountability so we have plans that fit both.
Plan A – One-60 min session you leave with a plan and hit the road running.
Plan B – Package of 6 sessions (to be used within 1 year) and you have access to my calendar to schedule when you want to talk. The first session is 60 mins and you leave with a plan that fits your needs. You can use the other sessions as check-ins, accountability, changes to plan whatever you need to succeed.

What if I choose Plan A and then need a follow-up sessions?
No problem, I offer follow up sessions for both Plan A and Plan B that are at a discounted rate.

I don’t want to give up my beer?
Me either. Seriously, my goal as a coach is not to make you hate life or give up anything you love. Actually I think a cold beer at the end of a hard day is refreshing if that is something you enjoy and is not impacting your life in a negative way.

I tried every diet and nothing works?
This is not a diet! Coaching is about working with a client, focused on their lifestyle and goals and creating behavioral changes that lead to better health. I do work with clients on specific diets or eating plans but working with me doesn’t come with a diet.

Want my honest opinion, unless you have a serious medical issue most diets are total b.s.

I work 3rd shift how can we find a time to meet?
I have early morning appointments and a few evening appointments or if there is something more specific just let me know. I will make it work, even if it means coaching calls at 4am. If a call isn’t going to work at all for you I can do it all via email.

Are you going to make me workout?
First off, I don’t ever make anyone do anything. You tell me the things you love, hate and are non negotiable and we create the plan together. Second, lets talk about movement our goal is to keep you mobile and your joints and organs healthy, not to punish you for eating ice cream. So we will explore ways to build quality movement but no one is sending you to a gym or making you take a yoga class if you don’t want to.

My spouse/doctor/partner wants me to be healthier and I don’t think I need to change?
I never take on a client who doesn’t want to change, doesn’t see the need or is not ready to change period! Feel free to send them to me and I will tell them why forcing never works.
However I want to leave you with one question. The change they want you to make, if you don’t make a change what will life look like for you in 5 years?

My neighbor is a health coach and sells supplements how are you different?
There are a lot of sales reps calling themselves health coaches that are selling supplements or workout plans.
I am a national board certified health coach. I am board certified through NBME (National Board of Medical Examiners) same board that certifies doctors they started certifying health coaches because it has become instrumental in patients/clients health. As a board certified health coach we go through extensive training, testing and ongoing education. If someone is claiming to be a health coach and selling diets or supplements they are not board certified. To learn more about board certified health coaches visit www.NBHWC.org
